What is an invigilator and why do I need one?
Invigilators must be appointed to oversee all Homeschooling Grade 10 to 12 tests and exams. Question papers will only be made available to invigilators.
The account holder/guardian can appoint an invigilator to oversee tests and exams by sending an email to info@impaq.co.za, containing the invigilator's full name and email address. The invigilator will receive communication from Impaq with details regarding their approval status and further instructions in terms of completing the online Impaq invigilator training.
Any individual who is over the age of 18, not a direct family member of the guardian and/or learner, who has successfully completed the online invigilator training as supplied by Impaq, may act as an invigilator if preapproved by Impaq. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to recruit and nominate an invigilator and to ensure that the Impaq-approved invigilator is linked to the learner’s profile for the following tests and examinations:
- All term tests
- Grade 10, 11, and 12 June examination
- Grade 12 preliminary examination
- Grade 10 and 11 November examination
Once you have appointed an invigilator and the invigilator has been approved and linked to the learner, the invigilator will remain the same for all upcoming tests and exams unless a new application is submitted to change the invigilator. Deadlines for appointing an invigilator:
- Term 1 tests: 19 February 2024
- Term 2 tests: 22 April 2024
- June examination: 06 May 2024
- Term 3 tests: 29 July 2024
- Preliminary examination: 02 August 2024
- November examination: 04 October 2024
- Term 4 tests: 11 October 2024
Please note:
- Immediate family members of the learner may not act as invigilators, even if listed as a tutor.
- Qualified assessors/teachers/tutors may not invigilate in the subjects they tutor/teach.
- Impaq does not provide a list of approved invigilators. Invigilator applications must be submitted by the account holder/guardian. No applications submitted by invigilators will be accepted.
- For learners linked to a tutor: the tutor will automatically act as the chief invigilator for all Grade 10 to 12 learners linked to the tutor's profile.
