Who can apply for the 2025 May/June NSC repeater exam?
Candidates who want to improve their results or complete outstanding results must register on the SACAI website and follow the prompts. They will be advised to register and affect payment via the website with a credit card. Applications for the May/June examinations open on 20 January 2025 and close 21 February 2025.
The following conditions for entry apply:
- Candidates who were absent with a valid reason (medically unfit, death in the immediate family or other special reasons) for one or more external question papers may register for the May/June examination.
- If a candidate was absent for one or more papers in the current NSC November examination with a valid reason, the candidate must rewrite all the papers of the specific subject. For example, if a candidate was absent for paper 1 of Life Sciences but wrote paper 2, the candidate must write both papers 1 and 2 of Life Sciences in May/June.
- If the subject that must be written is not offered during the May/ June examination, the
repeater may write it during the 2025 NSC examination.
- In a case where an irregularity is being investigated from the November examinations, provisional enrolment for the May/June examination may be granted for the candidate concerned, pending the outcome of the investigation.
- Not all subjects are offered in the May/June examinations, and a minimum performance of 20% is required.
Please note: You must submit documented proof substantiating the reason for the absenteeism to the SACAI head office (
exams@sacai.org.za) to ensure entry to the May/June examination. You should also present the statement of results as proof of the November examination registration.
